Where a record came from

Every credential in Oho is assembled from other records: something your source system sent, and something a registry said back. The Lineage tab on a record shows those connections — what fed into this record, and what came out of it.

It answers the question you'll eventually be asked in an audit: where did this actually come from?

The shape of it​

A credential sits in the middle of a short chain:

Worker  →  Credential  →  Verified record   (what the registry returned)
                       →  Source record     (what your system sent)

Reading outward from the credential:

  • The worker or applicant it belongs to. A credential is always somebody's.
  • The source record — the raw row Oho imported from your connected system, before any matching or tidying. For a spreadsheet or SFTP import this is the line from the file; for an HR system with a qualifications library (IntelliHR, Workday and similar) it's the qualification record as that system holds it.
  • The verified record — the result of checking with the issuing authority. One per check, so a credential that's been re-checked over time has several.

Oho matches source records onto a single credential rather than creating a new credential each time. If the same Working With Children Check arrives from two connected systems, you get one credential with two source records hanging off it — which is exactly what makes the Lineage tab worth opening when two systems disagree.

When to use it​

  • A value looks wrong. The lineage shows whether the number came in from your source system or from the registry, which tells you where to go and fix it.
  • Two systems disagree. If a worker exists in both your HRIS and a spreadsheet import, the credential shows both source records and you can see which one carried the bad data.
  • Someone asks you to prove a check happened. The verified records are the evidence trail: each one is a check against the issuing authority, with its result.
  • A credential appeared and you don't know why. Lineage names the job that brought it in.

Where to find it​

Open any worker, applicant, or credential and choose the Lineage tab. It opens looking upstream — at what fed into the record — because that's the usual question. You can look downstream from there.

Lineage is a read-only view

Nothing on the Lineage tab is editable. It reflects what the connectors and verification sources actually did. To change what appears, fix the data in the source system and let the next sync carry it through — see Keeping data in sync.
