AHPRA registration

Confirm a health practitioner's AHPRA registration against the national Register of Practitioners — including its type, its expiry, and any conditions on it.

Who it's for: Compliance admins and recruiters in health, aged care, and disability services

Availability: Available — one national register, no state-by-state checks

What you get

  • Verify a registration against the public national register, usually within a minute or so
  • See the practitioner's profession, registration type, whether it's current, when it expires, and any conditions or restrictions
  • Skip the per-state work — one registration applies nationally
  • Have Oho re-check on your schedule and update the outcome when the register's answer changes
  • Nothing to configure: no account, key, or portal access

Turn it on

Add a credential — choose AHPRA Registration, enter the registration number, and Oho checks the national register straight away.

How it works

Oho checks the public AHPRA register using the registration number and records what comes back against the credential: the practitioner's name, profession, registration type, currency, expiry, and any conditions. Once the register is connected as a Verification Source, Oho re-checks on the schedule you choose and updates the outcome on its own.

AHPRA Registration — who needs it, what Oho needs, and how to read the result → AHPRA — Register of Practitioners — the source and what it returns → One-off verification — what happens the moment a credential is added

For developers

Create the credential over the REST API and receive the outcome on the credential.verified event, where the verifier code is ahpra.

Good to know

  • The registration number is the long number printed on the practitioner's registration (for example MED0001164086). Its first three letters identify the profession, so you don't record the profession separately.
  • AHPRA is matched by registration number, so the worker's name is kept for your reference but isn't what the register checks against.
  • Registration covers Australia's 16 regulated health professions, including medicine, nursing, psychology, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and paramedicine.
  • The register is public, so there's nothing to authenticate — Oho handles its captcha automatically. No employer linkage is recorded against a registration.
  • Review Required means valid but carrying conditions worth a person reviewing; for AHPRA that's usually the conditions or restrictions the register returns.
  • Registration is one of several professional registrations Oho verifies — teacher registration works the same way against each state authority. See Breadth of verifiables.
